About
ADN 40 History, Coverage, Features
ADN 40 is a free-to-air television channel from Mexico, which is owned and operated by Televisión Azteca. The channel was launched on February 21, 2006 under the name Proyecto 40, which came to replace CNI Canal 40, the station’s original name. ADN 40 was launched because of the legal dispute between TV Azteca and Televisora del Valle de México, the company that owned it previously. This is a sister channel to TV Azteca’s more known channels, Azteca Uno and Azteca 7.
ADN 40 is known mostly as a general information channel, with most of its programs having to do with news broadcasts. Other shows aired by this network over the years have dealt with entertainment, sports, culture, movies, documentaries, and TV series. Most of the shows aired by the company were produced by international networks, but there have also been some in-house productions aired by this channel over the years.
Speaking about sports, ADN 40 has covered team sports such as football and American football over the years. Added to that, the channel has also been used as an overflow channel when competitions such as the Olympic Games or the FIFA World Cup have taken place.
Added to FIFA World Cup games coverage in the past, ADN 40’s football coverage has also included Liga MX games for some of the clubs that have signed broadcasting rights with TV Azteca.
The channel has been available on the Televisión Digital Terrestre, or TDT since its launch in 2012. ADN 40’s full programming has been available in Mexico City, while some of the channel’s shows have been aired by affiliate stations in Mexico.
