Eurosport 2 is a pan-European television channel owned and operated by Discovery, Inc. It is the sister channel for Eurosport 1, and it focuses on broadcasting team sports played in Europe. The channel was launched on January 10, 2005. Eurosport can be watched in over 30 countries and in 18 different languages.
Eurosport is known for owning a wide variety of sports rights without needing to bid for any of the top football leagues in Europe. Some of their top deals have included Olympic Games broadcasts, the Wimbledon tournament, motor sport events, and basketball competitions. For example, Eurosport owns broadcasting rights for all Grand Slams in the ATP tour. Eurosport 2 has added some other sports such as lacrosse, cricket, and handball to its portfolio.
Speaking about football, Eurosport owns broadcasting rights for the UEFA Nations League, the African Cup of Nations, the Copa América, and UEFA European Qualifiers. Eurosport also owns quite a few broadcasting rights for domestic leagues, including the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, the Polish Ekstraklasa and the Swedish Allsvenskan league.
