Chivas TV History, Coverage, Features
Chivas TV is an over-the-top (OTT) service owned by Mexican soccer team Club Deportivo Guadalajara. The internet platform was launched in 2016 after the club decided not to renew its broadcast agreement with Televisa. Chivas’ decision to part ways with the Mexican TV operator came as a result of a conflict regarding the reduced amount that Televisa had offered to pay the club to air its matches. Chivas TV was created to stream Chivas’ matches in the Liga MX live online, and also to produce and offer pregame and postgame shows, as well as news around the team. Subsequent to a partnership with OTT solutions provider StreamAMG, CD Guadalajara relaunched Chivas TV in 2020 as a dedicated streaming service available globally, with on-demand content and a catalog of highlights and interviews for the men’s, women’s and youth sides.
