Claro Sports History, Coverage, Features
Claro Sports is a private television channel owned by América Móvil and operated by MVS Comunicaciones and Claro TV. It was launched on December 16, 2013 via several pay-tv carriers, which have taken the channel’s signal to most Latin American countries.
As its name states, Claro Sports has focused its content on team disciplines such as football, athletics, motorsports, mixed martial arts, badminton, basketball, baseball, boxing, cycling, fencing, American football, indoor soccer, gymnastics, golf, Judo, wrestling, swimming, tae kwon do, tennis, and more. Added to these specific disciplines, Claro Sports has also been able to broadcast events such as the Pan American Games, the Winter Olympics, and the Summer Olympic Games.
Speaking about football, Claro Sports has been able to broadcast domestic tournaments and international competitions. Some of the tournaments aired on this channel have included the Liga MX, the Copa MX, the Ascenso MX, and the Mexican Liga Premier (the Mexican Third Division).
When it comes to football tournaments away from Mexico, Claro Sports has also aired live games for the Guatemalan League, the Russian Cup, the German Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the German Super Cup.
Over the years, Claro Sports has been able to broadcast its content in HD. The channel has also developed a downscaled version of this feed which is aimed to serve users who do not have access to HD technology.
