Nova Sport 1 History, Coverage, Features
Nova Sport 1 is a Czech television channel that is owned and operated by TV Nova. The channel was launched back in 1993 under the name Galaxie Sport, but it would be rebranded to Nova Sport 1 on October 4, 2008. Nova Sport 1 is part of a network that includes four channels: Nova Sport 2, Nova Sport 3, and Nova Sport 4.
Over the years, the network has been able to cover a wide variety of disciplines, which have included domestic competitions and international events and tournaments. Some of the sports covered by Nova Sport 1 and its sister channels have included ice hockey, basketball, tennis, football, mixed martial arts, rugby, darts, motorsports, and more. Nova Sport 1 has frequently been used to cover some of the top competitions where Czech or Slovakian athletes and teams have been involved.
Speaking about football, Nova Sport 1 has been used to cover domestic tournaments such as the Bundesliga, the 2. Bundesliga, or the Ligue 2. Other tournaments covered by this channel have included the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Super Cup, to name a few.
Nova Sport 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed to eventually see the light in 2015. Both feeds may still be available to watch in certain regions via certain pay-tv carriers across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where users can get a hold of the channel.
