Prima TV is a Romanian television channel owned and operated by the Clever Media Group. This channel was one of the first commercial networks in the country back when it was launched on December 17, 1997. It has remained as one of the most popular television channels in the country thanks to its large variety of programs and topics.
Over the years, Prima TV has been known as a general entertainment channel. Most of its programming has covered topics such as reality shows, contest shows, news, cartoons, TV series, and feature films. Most of the content aired on this channel has been produced in-house, but TV series from other countries (especially from the United States) have also been aired on this channel.
When it comes to sports, Prima TV has covered football, handball, motorsports, and basketball via highlights on its news broadcasts, with most of those broadcasting rights coming from its sister channel Look Sport. There have been no live sports broadcasts on this channel since its launch.
Prima TV was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light on December 7, 2020, which replaced the SD option. A downscaled version of the High-Definition channel has been made available for users who do not have access to HD technology.
