Radio Itatiaia is a Brazilian radio station from Belo Horizonte. It was founded on January 20, 1952 by journalist Januario Laurindo Carneiro and is currently owned and operated by the Itatiaia Communication Network. It is the largest radio station in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
Over the years, Radio Itatiaia has focused on politics, public security, economics, and sports as the main topics of discussion in their programming. The radio station can be categorized as a general interest network, with sports taking a large amount of their airtime during the weekends.
Speaking of which, Radio Itatiaia’s sports coverage has been centered on football, the most followed sport in Brazil. In the past, Radio Itatiaia has aired football games involving local clubs such as Cruzeiro, América, or Atlético Mineiro.
