About
Sport 1 CZ/SK History, Coverage, Features
Sport 1 is a European sports channel owned and operated by AMC Networks International Central Europe. The channel was launched in various Eastern European countries such as Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary on October 2, 2000.
Over the years, Sport 1 in the Czech Republic has been known for airing disciplines such as hockey, American football, motorsports, and more. There is a certain difference in the content available on the Czech channel and versions from other countries, with football games also being aired on some of Sport 1’s sister channels across Europe.
The Czech version of Sport 1 has covered live events related to the Champions Hockey League, the NFL, Formula One races, and the Kontinental hockey league.
Sport 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition option was developed during the late 2000’s and eventually launched in the early 2010s. Both feeds might still be available to watch within the Czech Republic and Slovakia, depending on the pay-tv company the user is dealing with.
