SportKlub is a pay-tv sports channel owned and operated by The United Group. The channel was launched in former Yugoslavian countries on January 2, 2006, and it finally saw the light in Slovenia back in 2007, quickly becoming one of the most-watched channels in Slovenian television.
Over the years, SportKlub has aired a wide variety of disciplines, which have included football, basketball, tennis, motorsports, American football, ice hockey, volleyball, handball, athletics, golf, and more. The network has been forced to add more channels to its offer in order to cover its wide variety of broadcasting rights.
Speaking about football, SportKlub 6 has been frequently used as an overflow channel when two or more live football or sports events are being aired at the same time. The channel has been used mostly during the weekends, leaving promotional videos to be aired during the rest of the week. The channel has covered domestic leagues such as the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the Russian Premier League, the Eredivisie, the Turkish Super Lig, the Ukrainian Premier League, the Austrian Bundesliga, the Greek Super League, the Danish Superliga, the Swedish Allsvenskan, the Japanese J1 League, and even Latin American tournaments such as the Mexican Liga MX or the Colombian Primera A. Added to that, the channel has also been used to air continental tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
European cup tournaments have also found airtime on SportKlub 6 throughout the years, with competitions such as the FA Cup, the Turkish Cup, the DFL Super Cup, the FA Community Shield, and the Ukrainian Cup being some of those aired on SportKlub 6.
SportKlub 6 was launched as a Standard Definition channel but plans to launch a HD feed are underway. The channel may also be available in countries such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, although their programming might be slightly different than the one aired in Slovenia.
