The Primera B Metropolitana is one of Argentina’s two professional third division leagues. Founded in 1899, the championship mainly consists of clubs from Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. The competition functions under a promotion/relegation system, with the best performers moving up to Primera B Nacional (the 2nd division) and the worst dropping down to Primera C Metropolitana.
