About NB II
NB II History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage
NB II (Nemzeti Bajnokság II, National Championship II) is the second-tier league in Hungarian football. This competition was founded in 1901, with eight teams competing in the inaugural campaign. This division is run by the Hungarian Football Federation alongside NB I, the country’s top-flight league.
NB II boasts a promotion/relegation system, with the league’s top performers earning promotion to NB I while the worst performers get demoted to NB III, the country’s third division. The Nemzeti Bajnokság II format has changed throughout the years, with the league comprising two divisions (Eastern and Western) in years gone by while anywhere between 14 to 20 teams have competed in this competition.
