The Mexican top-flight is getting ready for a long pause, but before they hit the brakes, there will be some interesting matches to keep an eye on prior to the aforementioned break.
As things stand, only two teams have been able to win both of their games, and unfortunately for them, one of them will forcefully lose that run in the league's midweek action. Four more teams have collected four points at this point of the season, but it will take a bit more from them to add to that tally in their games between Tuesday and Wednesday.
At this point, the only team that has failed to win a game is Querétaro. Nonetheless, their midweek match will see them facing Guadalajara, one of the most popular teams in the country and who happen to be struggling to win games now. Even with Chicharito as their top offensive threat, both these teams could face a big chance to win their first match of the season.
Here are the most relevant games to keep an eye on.
Top games to watch
Cruz Azul vs Tijuana - The two teams who have won both their fixtures this season will lock horns in Mexico City, and much to their dismay, one of them will see their perfect run coming to an end. The team led by Anselmi gets to this game fresh off a 4-0 win against Monterrey, while Tijuana return to Mexico City trying to improve a woeful record at the nation's capital. Cruz Azul have only lost once in their last seven home games against Xolos, and a win here would cement their spot as true title contenders.
Tigres UANL vs América - The game between these teams has become an instant classic, and this one should live up to its reputation. The last three games between these teams have ended in wins for América, with Tigres only being able to score once in those fixtures. If you thought that things would improve for Tigres at home, you will find that you're in for a surprise, since América has not lost a single game at the Universitario since 2017, winning five games and with four more ending in draws. Will América's unbeaten run away from home come to a conclusion on Wednesday? Follow this game and find out.
Necaxa vs Monterrey - Both these teams get to this clash with the same number of points, but Monterrey's massive wages cannot be compared to those with which Necaxa operates. Even with that difference, this could be a big game to watch, since Necaxa will want to end their woeful run against Monterrey, and Rayados will want to go back to winning ways after being slammed four-nil by Cruz Azul over the weekend. Monterrey are currently on a five-game winning streak against Necaxa, scoring sixteen goals and conceding only four. Will that be a sign of things to come? Keep track of the game and see who can come up with the win.
