The 2024 Leagues Cup continues to define the final spots for the next round with a third batch of games in the group stage. There are teams in this set of matches that have no chance of making the next round, while some others will stick to their options via some wicked permutations.
Sunday will be packed with games to watch, as seven games will take place tomorrow. Serving the purpose of this tournament, all do-or-die clashes being held on Sunday will see Liga MX teams battling MLS clubs for a spot in the next round, which will certainly increase the rivalry between both leagues and also between the teams.
The first game to follow will feature Atlanta United vs Santos Laguna. Both teams still have a chance to reach the next round, but Santos need to win the clash to seal a spot there. Atlanta would do it with a draw, which will make this clash a battle of strategies between two more than capable coaches.
Another interesting game to keep track of will be Philadelphia Union vs Cruz Azul. La Máquina were named as one of the title contenders for this competition, but their first game left a few doubts among their fans. Now, Martín Anselmi's men need to win this game to secure a spot in the next round,much to the disappointment of Charlotte fans that would see their team eliminated.
The evening will continue with another entertaining match: Guadalajara vs LA Galaxy. Las Chivas lost their first match of the competition after penalties against San Jose, which has made their path to the next round a bit more complicated. Meanwhile, the Galaxy are already through after their win over the Quakes, but in a game where they could face Chicharito after his five-year stay with the team, the Californians will want to make sure they can keep their title dreams alive using their former man as a stepping stone.
