About Al Nassr FC
Al Nassr Football Club, commonly known as Al Nassr, is a Saudi professional football club based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The team was founded in 1955 and plays all its home games at King Saud University Stadium (currently known as Al-Awwal Park due to sponsorship reasons), which seats about 25,000 people in its current format.
The team is among one of the most successful teams in not just Saudi Arabia, but in the Asian region in general. In 1998, it made history by winning both the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup and the Asian Cup in the same season. Al Nassr’s biggest rivals include Al Hilal, against whom they play in the “Riyadh Derby” each season.
In recent years, Al Nassr has garnered worldwide attention due to its signature of several big name players, including Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Marcelo Brozovic.
Al Nassr is primarily owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. In addition, the Al Nassr Non-Profit Foundation holds a minority share in the club.
Shahid TV, a subscription-based service, provides live-streaming coverage of Al Nassr’s matches for fans in a variety of locations, including in the United States. These matches include those in the Saudi Pro League, the King Pro Cup, the Saudi Super Cup, and the AFC Champions League.
